These series are very varied, not just among themselves but in the fields in which they operate and according to the geographical areas in which they are applied. They should be seen beyond the literal description of the instrument, as shown in the texts and by their sponsors, without resorting immediately to generalisations. This is why some lectures will focus on specific and clearly identified mechanisms, such as risk mapping and the sending of alerts. They will also cover the way in which compliance law uses more general tools to achieve this goal, such as legal action, incentives and new technologies. This will allow for a reconsideration of the most apparent difficulties in compliance law, such as the suitability (or otherwise) of enforcement in relation to the aims, whether or not to take into account legal and political geography, and whether or not there is coordination between the tools.
These varied lectures will be held in different places, according to the role played by the various university bodies that are this year supporting the Journal of Regulation & Compliance (JoRC) in running this lecture series. Two books will be published as a result: one in French, Les outils de la Compliance, and the other in English, Compliance Tools.
