Digital comments and organisations - 3rd edition of the research seminar organised by IDETCOM
on the February 14, 2020
14h
Salle des séminaires - Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal [niveau -1]

COMUИ (digital comments and organisations) seminar, organised by Lucien Rapp, professor and Director of IDETCOM; Laurence Leveneur, associate professor at IDETCOM; and Dr Daniel Pélissie from IDETCOM.

The new sample data on which the researchers are working now includes digital comments: tweets, posts, comments on Facebook, reviews on commercial and non-commercial websites, opinions on news sites, etc.

Whatever form they may take (visual, audio or textual), these footprints are subject to analysis in various disciplines. Furthermore, bearing in mind that this data relates to a visible minority, what should we make of its use in a scientific context or even as part of a more instrumental strategy where it becomes a way to measure the ‘social audience’ of various organisations?

Beyond these critical observations is the issue of its analysis and use for scientific purposes. What about the ethics of the researcher when using these footprints left by internet users? What about the capture and analysis of this data and the training of researchers in the various computer tools that now govern its use?

The COMUИ (digital comments and organisations) seminar, organised by members of IDETCOM (Toulouse 1 Capitole University), aims to explore these issues by bringing together researchers specialising in the analysis of digital comments, drawn from the humanities, social sciences and law, including students (Master’s and doctoral), professionals wishing to provide their expertise on this topic and anyone interested in digital issues.
