The 72nd Annual ICA Conference theme One World, One Network‽ invites reimagining communication scholarship on globalization and networks. The use of the interrobang glyph - a superposition of the exclamation and question punctuation marks – seeks to simultaneously celebrate and problematize the “one-ness” in the theme.
French communication approaches to advance public diplomacy. Constructing influence.
Francophone communication scholars discuss the contribution of two organizational communication schools to the study of public diplomacy: France’s communicational approaches to organizations and Montreal’s constitutive communication of organizations. Panelists will propose a research agenda to bridge IR and Communication approaches and advance Constructivism in PD while informing current debates on public, gender, nostalgia, emotions, disinformation; they will then focus on UNESCO and French Cultural Diplomacy to illustrate the construction of influence.
